Am I eligible for the AI Book Piracy investigation?

You may qualify if you are the author or rightsholder of a book that has an ISBN or ASIN shown on the cover or Amazon page, is registered with the US Copyright Office, and whose reproduction rights you own — and that appeared on LibGen, Z-Library, Bibliotik, Books3 or a similar piracy source, or was likely included in a dataset used to train AI models. Additional criteria may apply on review, and not every author will qualify. Available in all 50 U.S. states.

What is this investigation about?

Major AI companies are alleged to have copied millions of copyrighted books from piracy websites such as LibGen, Z-Library, Bibliotik and Books3, and to have used them to train commercial AI models. The lawsuits claim that instead of licensing those works or paying their authors, the companies embedded protected creative expression directly into systems now valued in the billions. The Copyright Act provides for statutory damages of up to $150,000 per work against each infringing company. ClaimsHero is working with Stris & Maher LLP and Freedman Normand Friedland LLP to represent authors in individual actions, and filed the first set of these cases on December 22, 2025. This is an attorney-advertising intake, not a settled class action, and ClaimsHero is not affiliated with any class action, class counsel, or settlement administrator in a copyright infringement case against an AI company. Having your claim reviewed is free and there is no upfront cost.
