Am I eligible for the Chime lawsuit?

You may be eligible if you live in Washington state and received a text message from a friend or family member inviting you to join Chime. You do not need to have signed up for Chime yourself. The class period is January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2027. Only residents of Washington are eligible.

What is this lawsuit about?

Attorneys are investigating whether Chime's referral program sent commercial text messages to Washington residents in violation of Washington's Commercial Electronic Mail Act (CEMA). CEMA provides for $100 per violating message. Similar referral-text cases have settled — Block, Inc. resolved claims over Cash App's referral texts for $12.5 million, and Robinhood settled for $9 million. This is an attorney investigation, not a settled class action.
