What is this settlement about?

Around April 1, 2026 the ShinyHunters extortion group used a voice-phishing call to trick a Spectrum employee into handing over login credentials, then reached an internal customer database. The group claims the stolen records cover roughly 40 million people. Charter Communications, which operates Spectrum, publicly disclosed the incident on May 27, 2026, and a proposed class action was filed in Connecticut federal court on June 1, 2026. Scott+Scott is investigating on behalf of affected customers. This is an attorney investigation, not a settled class action.
