What is this lawsuit about?
A proposed class action filed in California federal court alleges that a cyberattack reported on June 11, 2026 compromised an internal TikTok database and exposed the personal information of more than 2.4 billion users. The complaint says the exposed data included names, usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, gender, language and location information, and alleges TikTok failed to encrypt user data, skipped multi-factor authentication, gave systems and employees broader access than needed, and did not properly monitor its network. The litigation is at an early stage — there is no settlement and no claims process yet.
